"toughness is somewhat a question, it is clear that Vantec has done a great job with the cosmetics and the layout of the design. The ejection lever is solid and the front panel mounted on/off button is convenient. The drive activity indicator is also a nice touch."

Well built product and does what it is supposed to do. Transfer speeds are reasonable on USB (it IS USB 2.0 so don't expect blazing speeds) and fast on eSata. For those who are complaining that this product doesn't work with eSata, you might want to check your BIOS settings and drivers before complaining. Besides that, I also like the color scheme and blue LEDs of this product and they match with my WD external drive.

Picked one up today to replaced a failed external HDD from Western Digital. Was debating whether to get this or the one of the Thermaltake BlackX docks. Ultimately went with this because of the included e-SATA bracket, which did not come standard on my EX58-UD3R motherboard from Gigabyte. Using one of my old 160GB HDD's on it and it works like a charm! Highly recommended for those looking to take advantage of the e-SATA transfer rate.

I'm very pleased because besides drives in enclosures, I also have bare data drives. Like many others (I'm sure) I've had drives sitting on things next to an open computer with power and SATA cables. This is much tidier and safer!
I just hooked it in and it worked perfectly. So far, other than one Vantec power supply, their stuff has done great service for years, and I have used lots.

The product works as it's supposed to be, but there are times that Windows does not recognize the device, even after turning it on and off. I had to wiggle the USB a bit in order for Windows to recognize it.
With more than 10 Hard Drives, I personally own 4 of these (1 for a Mediagate 350HD, 1 for a Western Digital HDTV and 2 for my PC). I have recommended this to my friends and they are all very pleased with it. Usually I wait when it is on sale for 29.99 to buy, what makes it an excellent buy. Instead of more than 10 enclosures (more than 200, 300 Dollars), I just need 1 of this (30, 40 Dollars)

I got this sucker for $36 and cant really complain, besides the stability of it, as in the tipping factor. Used primarily as a caddy for my 6th hard drive, since my mobo only has 5 internal and might as well get the most of the E-SATA. Fairly simple. Currently a Hitachi 1TB drive occupied it. Ummm, also cant stand that blue light, why blue on everything now? Even in my car.

This is a nice looking HDD docking station that allows you to literally snap-in a drive and use it without any installation like other conventional HDD enclosures. However, i think the build quality could improve a bit. The power button feels very loose and the overall product is very plasticy. Also one of the rubber pads fell off and now there is some vibration when the drive spins.

I have no complaints about its workings so far. I wish I could use it with IDE drives, since I have a few lying around from old laptops. It doesn't seem very durable, but I'm not exactly throwing it around, so we'll see. I liked the fact that it comes with all necessary cables, including a bracket for eSATA!
