The new highest-end chip in Intel’s Sandy Bridge line, the Core i7-2700K has all its predecessor’s pluses and minuses—but offers only a slight increase on its speed.

For some reason intel ships their 'K' unlocked processors with a teensy little fan and heatsink. I am using a corsair A50 for a cooler and have it set to run at 4.5 GHZ. Under full load it reports at between 40 - 42 degrees C.
I decided to go with this over an i5 as it was only $309 at the time. Happy with the purchase. At stock my machine is running wicked fast, gaming in 1080P is very smooth (with a 560ti) and it runs VERY cool and quiet.

Overclocks very well, I have only had it for a few days but have gotten it stable at 4.8Ghz, and a very respectable temp of 52C under full load on prime 95.
Intels my favorite when it comes to durability and performance. I purchased this cpu a few monthe ago and I am quite happy about it. It has nice temperature when overclocked with my noctua u-12p.
if I had to buy another cpu, I'd go with intel again.

Overall I am very please by this chip. It was the time where I upgrade from a core 2 duo to this baby. I use a lot of graphic programs so I notice the processing speed significantly increased in rendering or video processing. Got it from a bundle deal so it was a very great price for this much power!

Normally I buy AMD CPUs for the better price/performance ratio, but this time I though I would splurge and pick this baby up! This is one high performing chip! I use lots of applications that are heavily threaded so the hyperthreading is what sold me on getting the 2700K over a 2500K or 3750K. I also chose the Sandy instead of the Ivy because of the lower temps! Even better was the price at $300 so I couldn't resist! These Sandy Bridge chips are also great overclockers on air so it'll allow me to have that extra "umph" in the future when I need it!
using this processor for a lot of video encoding and production on a asus p8z68/gen3 motherboard with intel quick sync and virtu and it just flys through the work. very happy with it
